The summer season is coming to end, but not before the return of the City’s restaurant weeks. Organized by the Stamford Downtown Special Services District, restaurant weeks will take place from August 19 to September 2. Thirty-one restaurants downtown will have prix-fixe menus for lunch and dinner, but this year’s dishes will be fresher than usual.

“We’ve invited the local farms in Stamford to come and give some of their produce to the restaurants, so the restaurants can incorporate them in their summer restaurant week meals,” says Jacqueline Wetenhall, Director of Retail Development at the DSSD.

The idea to partner local farms with participating restaurants was brought to the DSSD by the City’s Sustainable Task Force.

“It was an easy project to get going, everybody wanted on board,” says Christina Stanton of the Mayor’s Sustainable Task Force. “Our goal is to promote the sinergies and get awareness of the local farms in Stamford.”

A total of four Stamford-based farms and organizations got involved, including Hubbard Heights Farm, Domus, the Green Up Group, and the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. On Monday, Bar Rosso kicked off restaurant weeks with a special luncheon for participants.
