Jacqueline Salazar De López, a preschool teacher with over a decade of experience in the State of Connecticut, has published the first of four books in a new series titled Little Hands, Busy Minds: Daily Curriculum for Two's and Three's. A book launch party was held Thursday, November 10 in the lobby of the Stamford Government Center.

This event was made possible by the Ecuadorian Civic Committee of Lower Fairfield in Stamford.

The Fall Edition, released in July by AuthorHouse, is divided into three months (September, October and November). Each month contains a sample letter to parents summarizing the month's activities, a detailed weekly planning web and goal, and a complete guide of day-by-day activities that are easy to follow, such as art projects, math ideas, science experiments,

and songs and rhymes. Every activity is simple and completely child-centered to engage children's minds and promote their creativity, foster their independence and boost their self-esteem as they accomplish minor and challenging tasks.

The Winter, Spring and Summer Editions of Little Hands, Busy Minds will follow the same structure and are slated for release early next year. All Editions are aligned with State learning standards.

"As a teacher, planning daily activities for my class was always time-consuming and cumbersome," Ms. López explained. "It implied hours of Web research, looking at curriculum books at bookstores or at the local library. The result was always the same: the proposed activities were either not age-appropriate or were too teacher-centered and not

child-oriented.In other words, the activities were not suited for the busy minds of young learners eager to explore, learn and play using all their senses."

López has been a certified preschool teacher in the State of Connecticut for almost 15 years. She has facilitated workshops in early childhood education and is also a curriculum

consultant.
