For the 14th year, the Lumina String Quartet’s Chamber Music Institute will make its home at the Palace Theatre from August 1-14. Beginning Monday morning, the Palace will be filled with the sound of strings playing from every space available in the building – from the coat room in the lobby to the dressing rooms in the basement. Fourteen quartets will work with teachers and each other to hone their craft. Each week-long program includes chamber music coaching, private lessons, master classes and scheduled practice and rehearsal time (both alone and as an ensemble).

At the conclusion of each week of the Music Institute on Sunday, August 7 and Sunday, August 14, Stamford Center for the Arts and Lumina String Quartet will present, “The Festival of String Quartets”, a public performance featuring participating musicians. For tickets to the public performances, please call 203-655-8543. Tickets are $10.

In the ever changing world of music, the Lumina String Quartet’s Chamber Music Institute has been a constant for SCA,” said Elissa O. Getto, SCA’s Executive Director. “Asya Meshberg and Phil Bashor have created an incredible home for those young people wanting to study classical music, and the institute folds so beautifully into our education programs. We welcome them back to the Palace and hope to welcome them back for many more years to come.”

The Chamber Music Institute is part of SCA’s Arts Education Program and is made possible through the generous support of Presenting Sponsors RFR Realty and Purdue Pharma and Producing Sponsor Pitney Bowes.
